This little blog is mainly to showcase my affection (quite possibly, obsession!) of sending and collecting postcards world wide. All things bloggable will also happen here. I am not sure my life (that which I feel comfotable sharing via cyberspace) has enough content for its own blog, so I will share other projects, blurbs, snippets and photos as my whim directs me to.

Urban Cowboy and Cowgirl
Recently, it occurred to me that I had an ENORMOUS amount of postcards and that I would never be able to use/share them all. So, I do try to limit new postcard purchases (for now anyway!) to only really cool ones or souvenir cards from my travels.
However, something about this one just grabbed me.
I wonder who is going to be the lucky recipient?

Speaking of the Weather: HERMINE
Hermine is the lastest Tropical Storm to receive a name this hurricane season. Being a new resident to the Gulf Coast, I am keenly interested in following the news on this system as it progresses. The storm actually formed in the Gulf of Mexico quietly while Earl was getting much attention as it headed up the east coast of the U.S.
Earl fizzled out and the Labor Day weekend progressed. Now we are looking at starting our short work week on Tuesday with our new visitor; Hermine.
We have had some wind and rain most of the day in Houston, but expect the weather conditions will get more dicey in the next 12-24 hours.

The Bishop's Palace is on it's way to Martina
This is the postcard I am sending to Martina in Germany. It's the Bishop's Palace on Galveston Island.
The Bishop's Palace, also known as Gresham's Castle, is an ornate Victorian house located on Broadway and 14th in the historic East End District of Galveston, Texas. The American Institute of Architects has listed the home in the top 100 most significant building in the U.S.
The Library of Congress has classified it as one of the fourteen most representative Victorian structures in the nation. It was constucted between 1887 and 1893.
Postcard for Patrick in Paris
Patrick lives in Paris, he is studying undergraduate Mathematics and Physics. He is originally from Belgium.
He introduced me to an interesting bit of culture that is certainly new to me: "Burning Man". Google Burning Man for more info.
Patrick has volunteered twice to a related event (http://www.goingnowhere.org/) in Spain.
Interesting conceptual framework!
I chose this card for Patrick after I checked out the event photos from Reno. Sort of reminds me of the desert in that area. Since I didn't have a post card with the Nevada high desert, I substituted this one of neighboring Utah. I hope he likes it.
